Kareem received his Ph.D. in anthropology at the Graduate Center, City University of New York in September 2014, and his B.A. in anthropology from the University of Chicago. He is currently working on a book manuscript, "Palestine is Throwing a Party and the Whole World is Invited: Private Development and State Building in the Contemporary West Bank," under contract with Duke University Press. In 2014-2015, Kareem was based at the University of Oxford where he was Senior Researcher and Marie Curie Fellow at the Centre on Migration, Policy, and Society; and Research Associate at the Oxford Programme on the Future of Cities. While at Oxford, he began research on the new economic geographies of Palestine/China trade.
